Arbor Terrace Marlton team member, Jill Madjuka-Egan, knows firsthand what it is like to take care of a family member with dementia. At a young age, Jill found out first-hand what it was like to support a family member through a journey with dementia.
The year Jill went to college, her grandmother was moved into memory care due to Alzheimer’s disease. That same year, Jill’s father was diagnosed with a form of dementia. Jill had to make a decision about her future—and she chose her family. While her friends were enjoying the typical college experience, Jill spent five years caring for her dad. Said Jill of the choice, “Even if he doesn’t remember, I’ll still remember.”
Jill has decided to now serve others in her father’s memory by sharing her experience with residents and their families at Arbor Terrace Marlton. “It’s a gift and a curse that I know these things,” she explained. Being able to share her personal experience and knowledge with others who are on this difficult journey brings her peace.
