The Arbor Company has launched a digital memory care application in two of its communities. Ella–a digital caregiver assistant program, has been rolled out to Arbor Terrace Mount Laurel, in New Jersey, and Arbor Terrace Citrus Park in Florida since January, 2024.
As part of Ella’s digital platform, the app features a database of over 60 common caregiver challenges when providing care for dementia or other cognitive conditions. Ella recognizes these challenges as natural responses to stress or environmental factors, and suggests empathetic responses and interventions to these behaviors. The program also comes with a full library of training resources and materials.
Families are provided with a unique link to input details about their loved one’s medical history and personality so that Ella’s recommendations can be tailored and appropriate for the individual resident. During the pilot, staff will determine Ella’s role in decreasing reliance on medicinal intervention, and the frequency and severity of dementia-related behaviors. The Arbor Company has been using Ella as one of many resources to assist staff in delivering personalized, compassionate care to residents since January, 2024.
