The Arbor Company senior living communities are proud to offer a variety of engagement programs to our residents. Our staff focuses on creating an environment where residents have their choice of activities meant to stimulate the mind, body and spirit. One such example is a partnership between Arbor community The Solana East Cobb and Sketching with Seniors.
Sketching with Seniors is an organization of youth volunteers who share their passion for the arts with senior living communities. Started by a 16-year old, Akanksha Manna created the organization after watching her grandfather struggle with isolation during the pandemic. Her goal was to bring smiles to seniors’ faces through engagement.
Now, The Solana East Cobb is one of 15 communities where the young volunteers teach art to seniors.
“It has been really meaningful for our residents, it brings them out in the morning. They get excited,” said The Solana East Cobb staff member Shalam Soby.
Says resident, Roberta Griffin, “I feel light, I feel like I am doing something that I love.”
Arbor Company communities will continue to connect residents with new interests and passions, and thank the young women and men at Sketching with Seniors for their enthusiastic service.
